Appointments can be made starting on Thursday, February 1st for:
California Chins' Annual Chinchilla Health Day
This event is a low-cost health check-up for chinchillas sponsored by
California Chins and Adobe Animal Hospital.
Date: Monday, February 19 (Presidents' Day Holiday) from 10am-5pm.
Note: Adobe is a 24/7 emergency animal hospital, so although it will be
closed for appointments that day due to the holiday, it will be open for
emergencies. Due to the unpredictability of emergency situations, we
request your understanding and patience for any unforeseen circumstances
which may require our vets¹ time and attention
Location: Adobe Animal Hospital
396 First St.
Los Altos CA 94022
Vets: Dr. Jane Johnson and Dr. Rachel Boltz
Cost: For CA Chin Members - first 3 chins are free and $5 per chin
thereafter. For non-members the cost is $5 per chin.
Membership: People can become a member or renew CA Chins memberships at the
event for $15 annual fee.
Appointments: We will start making appointments on February 1st. To make an
appointment, send an email to Lani Ritchey at calchins at aol.com on or after
February 1st. By sending an email, Lani will be able to keep track of the
order in which appointment requests were received. In addition, it is
easier for the Ritchey household to deal with emails than a huge number of
phone calls during the first few days of February. Please do not call Adobe
Animal Hospital to make an appointment for Chinchilla Health Day. They are
not handling the appointments for this event.
We expect that the demand for appointments will exceed availability this
year, so if you are interested in having your chinchilla seen, be sure to
contact Lani early in February! When contacting us for an appointment,
please provide the following information:
- number of chins, name(s), age(s), gender(s), and color(s)
- any known health issues or concerns
- preference for time of your appointment
Chins To Go will be at the event with all of their wonderful cages, chew
toys, cage accessories, etc., available for sale. If you want to make a
special order, please contact them ASAP at chinstogo at aol.com.
California Chins will be selling our chinchilla pins, including some new
Valentine's Chin pins. If you are not attending Health Day, but would like
to know more about the pins, contact Lani at calchins at aol.com.
A request from our "vet tech" volunteers... We would appreciate it if you
did not give your chinchilla a dust bath right before bringing them to Adobe
on the 19th. We will be handling a lot of chinchillas that day, and dealing
with all that dust makes seeing and breathing difficult by the end of the
day! :-)
